Funeral services for Ruby Rice, 86, of Palacios are scheduled for 2 p. m. Sunday at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery and Bro. J. F. "Joe" Wrape will officiate.
Rice was born June 1, 1905 in Beasley to Edward Owens and Clara Hubbard. She died Thursday at Matagorda General Hospital.
Survivors include two daughters, Frances L. Highberg of Victoria and Kitty Ward of Sugar Valley; a son, Owens Rice of San Antonio; one sister, Alie Rother of Alvin; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband John Nelson Rice Sr. in 1980 and her son, John Nelson Rice Jr. in 1983. One brother and one sister also preceded her in death.
Pallbearers are Paul Highberg Jr., Michael Gannon, Ted Rother Jr., A. C. Herreth, Glenn Walker and Jack Brannon.
