MADISON-June B. Stone, age 79, passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at Agrace HospiceCare.

She was born on June 2, 1935, in Madison, the daughter of Burton and Clara (Mahlke) Burns. June was raised on the east side of Madison and graduated from West High School, class of 1953.

She married Joseph Stone on Aug. 7, 1954 in Mt. Horeb.

June was the assistant to the associate chair of the English department at the UW Madison for many years, retiring in 1996.

She and Joe were longtime members of St. Dennis Catholic Church. They owned property in White Creek, Wis., and spent many weekends there with family and friends.

In September of 1998, June met Al Kroll at the Eastside Club. They enjoyed 17 close years together traveling and socializing.

June is survived by her son, Steven (Karen) Stone; grandson, Joseph Stone (lovingly known as J.T. by grandma); loving companion, Al Kroll of Stoughton; brother, Bob (Barb) Burns Sr.; sister, Marilyn Callen; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe; twin granddaughters, Chelsea and Kimberly; and two sisters, Helen Marvin and Elaine Campbell.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Rd., Madison, at 11 a.m., on Monday, May 18, 2015, with Father Randy Timmerman presiding. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m., on Sunday, May 17, 2015, and again at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday.

Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens at a later date.

Memorials may be made to St. Dennis Catholic Church, Salvation Army, Agrace HospiceCare or the charity of donor's choice.
