Carol Jean (Dessent) Gentry, 78, passed away July 1, 2015. Visitation held from 6-8:30 p.m. Tues., July 7, at the McGilley & Sheil Chapel with rosary recited at 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Wed., at St. Mark's Catholic Church, 3736 Lee's Summit Rd., Independence. Burial following in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Carol was born Jan. 22, 1937, in Northeast KCMO to Paul and Josephine Dessent. She attended Holy Cross Grade School and graduated from Glennon High School. Carol was a LPN at the V.A. Medical Center until her retirement. She was a Navy wife, a member of St. Mark's Parish and an avid reader. Carol was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Harold in 1997; a son, Patrick in 1979; her parents and a brother, Robert Dessent. She is survived by her children, Phillip Gentry of San Antonio, Texas, Matthew Gentry (Tonya) of Independence, and Lynne Drummond of Blue Springs, Mo., and five grandchildren, Blaise Gentry, Alina Drummond, Amar Drummond, Rebecca Gentry and Daniel Gentry.
