Verna Cathyrene Enks, 78, of Redding, Calif., died Wednesday.

Enks was born May 18, 1915 in Avery. She was a 4-H leader for 10 years in Oak Run, Calif. and was also active in the volunteer fire department, the fire department auxiliary and the Republican Women's Club. In 1978 she received the most valuable citizen award.

She is survived by sisters Tina Hoel of Lockwood, Missouri, Jennie Seymoure of Collinsville, Glenda Bloom of Redding, Calif., Elsie Proffitt of Depew and Gladys Selby of Bristow.

Graveside services are to be held at 10 am Wednesday at Shamrock City Cemetery.

Burial is to follow under the direction of Hutchins-Maples Funeral Home.
