Richard "Dick" Penland, died peacefully at home on June 16, 2015 in Bonita Springs, FL at the age of 78.

Richard was the son of the late Richard and Ruth Penland. Beloved husband of Janice for 54 years, loving father of Lisha (Ronald) Pauli, Laura (Joseph) O’Connor and Lynne Kolbet, cherished grandfather of Shannon, Erin, Katie, Gwen, Joseph, Samantha and Kellie, dear brother of the late Dennis Penland.

Richard was born on September 22, 1936 in Akron, Ohio and he graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1954. He then served in the US Navy, after his term of service, he attended Akron University and graduated with a degree in History in 1962. He married Janice Corl in 1961. Richard and Janice lived in the Akron, Ohio area until 1976 when they moved to Naperville, IL. Richard spent his professional career in sales which culminated in a Vice-President of Sales position for International Games, the company that originated the game, "UNO". Richard retired in 1993 and moved with his wife to southwest Florida in 2000 where they enjoyed the good life of sunshine, family and friends.
