She married Leo Knoll on July 10, 1933. He preceded her in death Nov. 19, 1971. She later married Clarence Herl on Nov. 22, 1980. He preceded her in death April 4, 1990.
During World War II, she was employed in the Chicago shipyards as a welder. She also worked in Chicago for the Pullman Railroad Car Co. as a plumber's helper. In Hays, she worked in various restaurants as a waitress and for the Lamer Hotel and Fort Hays State University as a housekeeper. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, a former member of Eagle's Auxiliary, of which she was a past president. She served on the Ellis County election boards and was a Senior Companion.
Survivors include two sons, Robert "Bob" Knoll, Olathe, and Leo Knoll Jr., Hays; six grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandchild; three brothers, Joseph, Rudolph and Clarence Quint; and four sisters, Coletta Glass, Fidelia Dreher, Thelma Lethem and Mary Ann Quint.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church; burial in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, both at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine. A vigil will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Church Building Fund, Hospice of Hays Medical Center or Cancer Council of Ellis County in care of the funeral home.
