He was a Henry County resident most of his life and was a 1975 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School. He also attended Ball State University. He was an accomplished artist, and also did weaving and pottery. He had worked for Val Discount Store in the lawn and plant department for several years. He loved gardening, festivals, reading, and animals, especially his dogs that he was very fond of and considered them his children.
He is survived by his loving siblings, Pam (husband-Dave) Matchett of Greentown, IN, Michele (husband-Mike) McAlister of Mt. Summit, IN, and Marty Elkins of New Castle; uncles, Garis Elkins Jr. (wife-Patty) of Hagerstown, IN, and Larry Bennett of New Castle; four nieces; longtime companion, Brian Combs of rural New Castle;and several special friends including Don and Danny.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his grandparents, Garis and Gladys Elkins and Bill and Mildred Bennett.
Calling will be from 4-6 p.m. Friday at Macer-Hall Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 6 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home with Don Davis speaking. Burial will take place on a later date at South Mound Cemetery in New Castle.
