Jerry was the son of John Myron Maxwell and Thelma Holmes. He was born July 18, 1943 in Raleigh, NC. He was the second child and only son.

He married Merry Lynne Keim in 1969 in Ainsworth, NE. 2 daughters were born to this union, Shannon & Whitney.

Jerry graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Agronomy in 1965, he also played the saxophone in the jazz band.

Jerry was an active member of the Lincoln Amateur Radio Club - his call sign was K0KGZ.

He enjoyed shooting trap and was a trap team member for the radio club team and was the trap coach for a local high school in Lincoln, Nebraska, he enjoyed teaching them.

Jerry was a driver's education instructor at Southeast Community College.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survived by his daughters, Shannon (Curtis) Wolbert and Whitney (John) Emanuel, granddaughter, Chloe Wolbert, Sisters, Colette (Lyle) Saxton and Karen (Jim Hudson; former spouse, Merry Lynne Maxwell and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Jerry's life was held at 2pm on 7/7/2015 Tuesday at Butherus, Maser and Love Funeral Home, Lincoln, NE. Visitation with family will be 6-8pm on Monday.
