Anne Nelson was born in Norway, and came to America in 1881 with her father, Christian Nelson, and 3 brothers, Ole, Niels, and Ingebret (Bert). They joined their brother, Mads, who had immigrated in 1871. She married John Ole Johnson on December 24, 1882, in Muskegon, Michigan. They moved to Stillwater, Minnesota, and then in the fall of 1887 to a farm in the Rush River Township. They were the parents of 3 sons and 3 daughters.

Anne was a very hard working farmer's wife and was described as a quiet, patient and loving mother. She died at the age of 70.
