Death Claims Mrs. Mary Bateman

Mrs. Mary J. Bateman died last Thursday night at the Choteau hospital here at the age of 68. She had been ailing for some time and a week before her death was brought to Choteau from Helena where she had been visiting at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Stanley R. Foote.

Mrs. Bateman came to Choteau first from Hayward, Wisconsin, where her husband died, and since 1912 had divided her time between this city, where she made her home with Mrs. Foot, and with her son, Dr. Howard Bateman, and Alden, Minnesota, with another daughter, Mrs. B.C. Hazel.

That Mrs. Bateman had gained a wide circle of friends during her residence here was made apparent Sunday afternoon when the Howard Bateman home, where funeral services were held, was filled with Choteau people who gathered to pay their last respects to a woman of fine character and gentle disposition whose passage is sincerly mourned. Burial was made in Choteau cemetery.

Besides Dr. H.W. Bateman of this city, and Mrs. Stanley R. Foot of Helena, Mrs. Bateman is survived by three other children, Mrs. B.C. Hazel of Alden, Minn., Ernest Bateman of Chicago, and Arthur Bateman, formerly of Choteau and now a resident of Phillipsburg, Mont.
