A celebration of Jean's life will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, July 11th at Deerfield Retirement Community.
Jean Milne was born December 30, 1941 in Grand Island, NE to Esca and Kathryn Milne. She grew up in Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island H.S. and Kearney State College.
She taught art in Seward, NE where she met David Ely.
They married in 1966. During David's career the couple relocated several times: Bradshaw & Lincoln, NE; Harvey & South Holland, IL; retiring in 1993 to North San Diego County, CA. Their final move was to Deerfield in 2008.
Jean was a full time mother of three boys, then a grandmother to four grandchildren. She loved creating art, volunteer work, cooking, and parties. In Illinois and California her 4th of July parties were a hit with friends. Her life was enriched by her involvement in the P.E.O. Sisterhood.
Survivors include her husband, David; children: William (LeAnn), Richard, Daniel (Michelle) Ely; four grandchildren: Morgan, Liam, Tim and Kris; sisters: Sue, Ann and Jo (Gary).
