Mrs. C. Prather Dies After Long Illness-

"Cora Rebecca Griffith, daughter of the late William T. and Sarah Katherine Griffith, was born September 13, 1877, near Mound City and died May 14, 1968 in the Duncan Nursing Home, Mound City, at the age of 90 years, 8 months, and 1 day, following an illness of several years.

She attended the local rural school and became a member of the North Bethel Church of the Brethren at an earl age, where she was an active member during her entire life.

On December 5, 1891, she was united in marriage to Thomas H. Prather in Independence, Kansas and they established their home in Oklahoma where they lived over two years. The family moved to a farm near Mound City where they lived most of their lives.

Mr. and Mrs. Prather celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary, December 5, 1951, at the family home where she was born and spent her youth. The following January 20, 1952, her husband preceded her in death at the age of 83, after a brief illness.

Surviving are six daughters, and five sons; Mrs. Katherine Crowley, Santa Ana, Calif.; Mrs. Della Wellington and Mrs. Susan Rowlett, Skidmore; Mrs. Ruth Buryanek, McPherson, Kansas; Mrs. Mary Davidson, St. Joseph; Mrs. Helen Beiber, Tustin, Calif.; J. Perry Prather, Ashland, Ohio; Arthur Prather, Cheney, Kans.; T. Griffith, Chico, Calif.; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A son, William Irving, her parents, two sisters, and a brother preceded her in death.

Always she was a devoted companion, loving mother and kind neighbor, ever administering to the sick and needy within her reach. Until a major stroke which affected her mental ability following a full vigorous life, the keenness of her mind was a marvel to all who knew her.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the North Bethel Church with her son, the Rev. J. Perry Prather officiating. The body will lie in state from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
