Obituary: David Wise, aged 83, lifelong resident of Wayne Township, died last night, March 19, 1943, at 11 o'clock at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Emma Moore, near Kuhntown, after a year's illness due to ailments incident to his advance years.
Mr. Wise was the father of 19 children and leaves a total of 101 direct lineal descendants to survive him.
A son of James and Phoebe Phillips Wise, he was born Feb. 21, 1860, at Brave and lived all his life in that vicinity. He had been a member of the Kent Methodist Church at Brave for 42 years. He married Nancy Eddy, who died in 1937.
Surviving are 13 children, namely: Mrs. Mary Conaway, Wana, W. Va.; Mrs. Rosa Russell, Brave; George Wise, Blacksville, W. Va.; Mrs. Jesse Blouir, Waynesburg; Mrs. Nancy Wilson, Wana, W. Va.; Mrs. Fanny Cross, Fairmont, W. Va.; Milton Wise, Pine Bank; Mrs. Laura Loar, Mrs. Ella Steele, Mrs. Ida Stewart, Charles Wise and Mrs. Kate Fetty, all of Washington, Pa., and Mrs. Emma Moore, of near Kuhntown. He also leaves 72 grandchildren, 15, great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, two brothers, Isaac and Jacob Wise, both of Washington, Pa., and one sister, Mrs. Minerva Cumberledge, of Brave.
Tne funeral will be Sunday, March 21. Short services will be held at the Moore home at 1 o'clock, followed by further services at 2 o'clock at the Phillips Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Phillips Church Cemetery. Friends will be received at the Moore home. Funeral arrangements are in charge of Ralph Scott, of Rogersville.
