From Hazleton PA Newspaper, Apr 21, 1936:
John Pfeil, of Roosevelt street and Miss Freda Gerish, of Allen street, West Hazleton, were married Saturday evening at 8 o'clock in this city. The attendants were Miss Martheda Garrow and Francis Babish. The couple will reside on Roosevelt street. They left on a honeymoon trip to Philadelphia immediately after the ceremony.

John F. Pfeil of RD 1 Drums died Saturday morning at the Hazleton State General Hospital. Born in Hazleton, he had resided in Drums for most of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Catherine (Brandau) Pfeil, and a brother Clyde.

The deceased was a member of the Reformed faith. He was a member of the Butler Township Fire Department, Teamsters Local No. 773, and was a social member of the Hazleton American Legion Post No. 76. Prior to his retirement he was employed by the Alto Trucking Co.

Surviving are his wife, the former Freda Gerish; a daughter, Mrs. Arland (Bernadine) Mumaw, Drums; a son, Frederick J., Drums; and the following brothers and sisters, Martin of Drums; Mrs. Margaret Woodring of West Hazleton, Mrs. Loretta Karchner, of Sugarloaf; George of Phoenixville; and Mrs. Ferris (Ruth) Lentz of Haddonfield, N.J. A step-brother, Ernest of Media, and four grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. from the John J. Pusti Funeral Home with Rev. Stacy I. Weaver participating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Drums. Friends may call tonight from 7 to 9.
