Bradley L. Horton, 72, of Canton, Pa., passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 29, 2015 at the Troy Community Hospital.
Brad was born Oct. 30, 1942 at the family home in Grover. He was one of five children of the late Clifford C. and Millie (Adams) Horton. He was a 1960 graduate of Canton High School and served in the U.S. Army while stationed in Alaska during the Vietnam War. On July 31, 1969, he married the former Sharon Hicks and they were blessed with two children. Brad proudly served 26 years with the Pennsylvania State Police, earning the rank of Corporal before retiring in 1994. He then owned and operated Heather Oaks Construction. He was a member of the Grover Church of Christ, sang in the church choir and was a member of Bradford County's Code Inspection Board. Though a private person, his family's well being was most important. He especially cherished times spent with his grandchildren. Brad loved to read. He also was usually busy with a project. He and Sharon took many vacations to Myrtle Beach, which was always his home away from home.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Sharon; children, Stormy (Brian) Bell of Bergenfield, N.J. and Travis (Cami) Horton of Washington D.C.; five grandchildren, Alexander "Zander" Bell, Andrew Bell, Connor Horton, Jordan Zabrocki and Alexander Zabrocki; four siblings, Dawn (Lewis) Schanbacher of Canton, Alfred (Charlotte) Horton of Cameron Mills, N.Y., James (Pauline) Horton of Canton and Clifford "Calvin" Jr. (Joan) of Montoursville; a special cousin, Grace Gant of Rock Hill, S.C.; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pastor Will Strunk will officiate a memorial service at 10 a.m. on July 18, at the Pepper Funeral Home, Springbrook Drive in Canton. Burial will be private at a later date. Following services, a lunch and time of fellowship will be held at the St. John's Methodist Church in Grover.
