On January 8, 1940, the Lord chose a beautiful flower Margaret “Marge” Williams Westbrook to be born to the late Charles (Charlie) and Annie Lou Blair Williams in Columbus, Mississippi. She was the second eldest of seven children born to her parents.

She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev. L. R. Kennedy at North Side Missionary Baptist Church in Columbus, Mississippi. She attended and graduated from R. E. Hunt High School in the class of 1959.

Margaret was later united in Holy Matrimony to the late William Fred Edward Westbrook in November 1960, and to this union three children were born.

After marriage, she relocated to South Florida. Upon moving to Ft. Lauderdale, Margaret became a member of the New Mount Olive Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. G.E. Weaver, the late Rev. Dr. Mack King Carter, and Pastor Marcus D. Davidson. She enjoyed singing in various choirs: Adult Choir, Anthem Choir, Choir #1 & 2, and the Voices under the directorship of Dr. Pinkston and Minister Eddie Robinson. Margaret loved traveling with the choir to promote its various CDs. Her favorites were “Hallelujah All Day,” and her last one was “One More Day” with Minister Eddie Robinson and Dr. Marcus D. Davidson, Senior Pastor.

In her employment career, Margaret worked for the Broward County School Board. She began as a school bus driver, and later became the Community Liaison for the former Edgewood Elementary School in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Once Edgewood was repurposed, Margaret became an ESE Assistant at Indian Ridge Middle School, and she later retired from the education system. Margaret was also a member of the Queenettes Civic Club, which was involved in many community activities.

Margaret loved going to her family reunions. She didn’t want to miss any of them. She was fortunate to attend her last Family Reunion in Washington D.C. in 2014. Margaret had been designated as “The Matriarch,” the rock of the family, when her mother passed in 2001. Most precious to Margaret in her final days were her God, her children, her grandchildren, her godchildren, her siblings, her other family members, her church, and her friends.

Margaret departed this life on June 12, 2015 and leaves to cherish her sweet memories two beloved daughters: Felecia Westbrook Dean of Ft. Lauderdale, Karla Westbrook Faraday (Rex) of Van Nuys, CA, a son Michael Westbrook (Theresa) of Ft. Lauderdale; nine grandchildren: William Dean (Shamecca) of Ft.
