Obituary. Melissa E. P. Davis. Perry, Box Elder County- Melissa Emeline Perry Davis, 84, a native and lifelong resident of Perry, died here Thursday at 9:30 p.m. of a heart ailment at the home of a son, Vinson F. Davis, Jr.
She was born Dec. 24, 1866, daughter of Lorenzo and May Walker Perry. She was married to Vinson F. Davis Dec. 13, 1883 in the Salt Lake Endowment House.
Mr. Davis operated a farm at Perry and established the Bear River Duck club. He died Aug. 2, 1928.
Mrs. Davis was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as a Relief Society block teacher for many years. She was a member of the Perry camp, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. [Her DUP application number is 9295].
Surviving are six sons and daughters: George L. Davis, Mrs. William A. (Ethel) Wood, Mrs. C.E. (Gewen) Rader, Corinne; Dan P. Davis, Brigham City; Vinson F. Davis, Jr., Mrs. G.E. (Ruth) Barnard, Perry; 34 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. in the Perry LDS ward chapel by Rulon Hirschi, bishop.
Friends may call at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Barnard, Perry, Sunday evening and Monday prior to services. Burial in the Brigham City cemetery will be directed by the Harold B. Felt mortuary.
