Services for Mattie Hawkins will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at Hilliard Funeral Home with C R Chapman officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Sunday before the service, and a graveside service will follow at Frankston City Cemetery.
Mrs. Hawkins passed away at the age of 79 on June 30, 2015.
Mattie Lou McGehee Hawkins was born February 17, 1936 in Frankston, Texas to the late Walter Lawrence McGehee and Beulah Willingham McGehee. She had been a resident of Ben Wheeler since 1971 and was a member of Heritage Trails Cowboy Church. She worked as a restaurant manager for 20 years, and was a talented artist and quilter.
She was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Billy Jack McKennon; her second husband, Lewis Hawkins; brother, Louie Darwin McGehee; sister, Linda Kay McGehee.
Survivors include her three daughters, Christy Sledge of Ben Wheeler, Pam Walsh and husband, James of Ben Wheeler, and Kimberly Jordan and husband, Curt of Tyler; grandchildren, Crystal, Tracie, Josh, Brian, Jamie and Jared; great-grandchildren, Nate, Megan, Brooklyn, Jayden, Lane, Clay, Nicholas, Brynlee and Brayden; and cousins, Jerry McGehee, Troy McGehee and Linda Cleveland.
If desired, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
