Duane A. “Tuff” Kerfien, 80, of Fulton, passed away Friday, April 3 at home with his loving family. He was born and raised in the Fulton - Oswego areas and had worked at Hutamaki (formerly Sealright) for 46 years until his retirement in 2000. Duane was a fan of NASCAR motor racing, and was an Oswego Speedway Push Truck Driver along with his brothers. He was a US Army veteran serving from 1957 to 1963 and a longtime member of The Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1280, Fulton. He was predeceased by his parents, Leslie Fenton Kerfien and Lottie Mae Welch Kerfien and brothers, Leslie Fenton Kerfien Jr. and Floyd Duane is survived by his loving wife of 60 years the former, Shirley E. Burt; daughter, Rhonda Lee Kerfien (David) Hutchins; grandchildren, Joseph Duane Hutchins, Amy (Jeremy) Mikels, Jill (Kris) Graham, Daniel (Pamela) Hutchins, great grandchildren Mason and Colton Mikels, Alexis and Logan Graham and Brianna and Samantha Hutchins; siblings, Robert (Patricia), Frederick (Doris), Richard (Etta), Donna (Stanley) Gilliland, Edward (Cheryl), Charles (Darlene) and Thomas D. (Janet) Kerfien all of Fulton; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Foster Funeral Home, Fulton. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 910 Fay St., Fulton. Contributions may be made to the Friends of Oswego County Hospice, P.O. Box 102, Oswego, 13126.
