Dalton graduated from Newburg High School. He managed the family farm in Gladesville until he went into Army, serving in World War II. He was a Platoon Sergeant who trained recruits for active duty. After the war, he worked as a Rural Mail Carrier in Preston County and later retired from Daugherty Coal Company as a heavy equipment operator. When Dalton retired from mining, he enjoyed his hobby business, D&D Sharpening until 2011.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Yvonne Bucklew of Morgantown; step children, Deborah Ann Price and her husband Daniel of Morgantown, Susan Renee Rexroad and her husband Robert of Morgantown; four grandchildren, Amee Yvonne Blake and her husband Jeremy, Justin David Price, Corey James Rexroad, and Kristen Renee Rexroad; and one brother, George "Bud" Clark Bucklew and wife Jeanne.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 13 brothers and sisters.
Friends and family will be received at the Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown until the time of the funeral service at 11 AM with Rev. Dr. Timothy Allen officiating. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Tranquility at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens. Full military funeral rites will be provided by the Westover VFW #9916.
