Weldon was born on January 13, 1924 in DeKalb, TX, to Frank J. and Clara (Feazell) Tidwell. He retired from GM in 1982, after 28 years of employment, and had been hired there shortly after GM had opened. He loved being around his family and spending time with them. Weldon enjoyed traveling, woodworking and country music.
He is survived by his wife, Jewell F. (Duncan) Tidwell; two children, Jeff Tidwell of Perrysville, and Deborah Schoonover of Mansfield; three step-children, Wayne (Debra) Littleton and Loretta Littleton both of Mansfield, and Cindy (Paul) Waggoner of Shelby; four grandchildren, Larry Schoonover, James Schoonover, Carrie Doerrer, and Michael Schoonover; three step-grandchildren, Tracie Littleton, Maia Brainard, and Justin Hall; ten great-grandchildren and one on the way; eight step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild on the way; one sister-in-law, Marie Tidwell of TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Weldon was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Betty Tidwell; his second wife, Jean Tidwell; his third wife, Frances Tidwell; his son-in-law, Larry Schoonover; one step-grandson, Brandon Hall; and numerous siblings.
Private services will be held by the family at a later date. Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, LTD., is handling the arrangements.
