She had been employed in management with Proctor and Gamble. After leaving that position in 2011 she relocated from southern California to Isla Carenero, Panama with her boyfriend, Brian Brimager. Her plan was to start a clothing business; to make bathing suits and sell them on the beach.

Her remains were found on Isla Carenero, Panama in 2013. Brimager faces several charges in connection with her murder. Her dog was not found.

She leaves behind her loving family: father, James, step-mother Lillian, brother, James, sister, Michele Valenzuela, and niece Lauren.

On Tuesday, August 21, 2013, a Panamanian resident who lives on Isla Carenero found a "green military style" backpack containing a human skull and some bones, but not a complete skeleton. The bag also contained women's clothing.
