Fina rites were held on Sunday afternoon January 30 for Mrs. Walter A. Scherer, nee Gertrude Maenius, who succumbed suddenly at the home of her mother, Mrs. George Maenius, on Friday evening January 28, at 7 p.m.
Rites were held in the home of Mrs. George Maenius at 1:45 p.m. on Sunday followed by rites in the Albert Lutheran Church with the Rev. Paul Leonhard officiating. The church choir sang in the church and at the Albert Cemetery where interment was made.
Mrs. Scherer was born on September 17, 1901, the daughter of George Maenius and Katherina Lang Maenius and at the time of her death had attained the age of 42 years, 4 months and 11 days.
On January 26, 1921 she was united in marriage with her surviving husband, Walter A. Scherer. Three children, all of whom survive, were born to their union. Surviving children are; Margaret, Mrs. Werner Burg; Dorothy, Mrs. Francis Merz and Lester Scherer.
She is also survived by one grandchild and the following brothers and sisters; Henry, Louis and Alvin Maenius; Elizabeth, Mrs. E. Lange; Mary, Mrs. Harry Hitzfeld; Louise, Mrs. Emil Stahl and Eda, Mrs. Edgar Meier.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Beckmann Funeral Home.
