Nestor García of Puerto de Luna, NM, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2015 at the age of 89.
Nestor enlisted in the United States Army in 1943 and served for three years during World War II, stationed in Germany where he was wounded. Nestor received the Purple Heart Combat Infantry Badge and the Victory Medal. At the end of the War, Nestor served under General Patton.
Nestor is survived by his daughter, Linda García of Santa Rosa, NM, grandchildren, Renee Sisk and her husband, Billy, Abe García and Edward García, great-grandchildren, Anyssa García and Zach García, great-great-grandchildren, Katie Sisk and Kayden Sisk, brothers, Ezequiel García Jr. and his wife, Oma and Arsenio García and his wife, Mary, sisters, Isabel Anaya and Tircia García and many nieces and nephews.
Nestor was preceded in death by his son, Joseph David García, his parents, Ezequiel Sr. and Victoriana García and several brothers and sisters.
Nestor was a loving father, grandfather and brother and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Rosary will be on Monday, July 6, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at French - Lomas, Albuquerque, NM on with interment to take place at Santa Fé National Cemetery, Santa Fé, NM on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The Military Order of the Purple Heart Service Foundation, PO Box 49, Annandale, VA 22003, www.purpleheart.org.
