Alonzo Sidney Haden died August 17,1903 in Kaplan, Louisiana. There is no marker for his grave but according to The Meridional Newspaper he is buried at the Masonic Cemetery in Abbeville.

Alonzo was the son of Henderson Wilson Haden and Mary Elizabeth Woolworth.

Alonzo married Marguerite "Maggie" Dewitt on September 9, 1893 in Desoto, Louisiana. She was the daughter of Martin Dewitt and Emmeline Charity Flanagan. Together they had 3 children, Sidney, born June 1895 in Vermillion, LA. Arthur, born June 6, 1898 in Vermillion, LA and Maggie Marie, born March 10, 1900 in Maurice, LA. We are not sure when Maggie Dewitt died but it was after the birth of their daughter Maggie some time in late 1899 or early 1900. According to the 1900 Census done in June of that year it shows Alonzo to be a widow with 3 small children, the youngest being his daughter Maggie who was 9 months old. It also shows Maggie Marie Haden to be born in Aug. of 1899. We have her birth as March 10, 1900, so not sure why there is a discrepancy on her birth. But what we do know is that the Maggie Dewitt that was married to Alonzo Hayden and had his first 3 children is not the same Maggie Dewitt that I've seen on trees that died in California in 1968.

Alonzo then married Lessie Howell, born 1875 and a resident of Mouton Cove some time in 1900. She died near Leroy around July 1901. Alonzo's third marriage was to Lessie's sister, Rachel Howell, born 1879, around October 1901. Alonzo and Rachel went on to have 2 children, Raymond Alonzo born 1902 and Ora Belle born 1903.
