Laura H. Sharp, 86, of Sayre, Pa., passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at Athens Health and Rehabilitation Center, Athens, Pa., following a period of declining health.
She was born on Aug. 10, 1928 in Sheshequin Township, Pa., the daughter of the late Bradford and Viola Vernon Ellis.
Laura worked at Robert Packer Hospital as a nurses aide for 23 years, retiring in 1994. She loved to work on cross stitching and needlework.
She is predeceased by her husband Joseph Sharp in 2006, sisters Flora Benjamin and Virginia God, brother Arthur Ellis, and stepdaughter Lydia Stonifer.
Laura is survived by her children, Glenn C. Jr. and Cheryl Hunsinger of Sayre, Pa., and Duane Hunsinger of Rome, Pa.; grandchildren, Justin Hunsinger of Towanda, Pa., Carrie Carman of Rome, Pa., Nicole Adamcik of Texas, Emily Rought of Athens, Pa., Jessica Stone of Troy, Pa., Johnica Hunsinger of Towanda, Pa., and Julianna Hunsinger of Towanda, Pa.; stepchildren, Lee and Louise Sharp of Georgia, Lester and Reba Sharp of Manheim, Pa., Martha and James Sites; stepson-in-law, David Stonifer; seven stepgrandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends and family may call on Thursday, July 2, 2015 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main St., Athens, Pa. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home at 12 p.m. with the Rev. James Donahoo officiating.
Burial will be in Bradford County Memorial Park, Luthers Mills, Pa.
