Ruby Mae Lane was born August 9, 1924, in Wyandotte, Oklahoma, to William Caswell Golden and Mary Elizabeth Rousney Golden. She was the youngest of 12 children. Ruby graduated from high school in 1942 and married in August of that same year. Donna Cheryl was born in April 1944. The marriage dissolved in 1945. In June of 1946 Ruby married James Steven Lane. The family lived in Oklahoma until 1955 when they moved to Oregon. Ruby and Jim returned regularly to visit extended family in Oklahoma. Ruby was a homemaker until 1974 when she attended the Pendleton School of Hair Design and became a beautician and an instructor at the school. She operated a beauty shop located in the Camlu Retirement Center in Pendleton Oregon. After retiring in 1989,Ruby and Jim enjoyed many trips together, including trips to the East Coast, Alaska, and other states as well as many trips to the Oregon Coast. Her other hobbies included gardening, crocheting, and she loved to cook. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters, 7 brothers, her husband Jim, and her son-in-law Ted Gilliland. Ruby is survived by her daughter Donna Risner-Lane Gilliland, grandchildren Ann Marie and her husband Steve Hardin, Matthew Gilliland, Kimberley Napolitan, great grandchildren Sarah Hardin; Phoebe, Cooper, Gannon, Heath and Reese Gilliland; Conner, Ryan, and Dylan York, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
