Charlotte Bennett Bohm, 87, formerly of Peru, passed away at 1:45 a.m., Friday, June 26, 2015 at Tranquility Hospice, Austell, Georgia. She was born in Peru, on Jan. 5, 1928, the daughter of Elbert H. and Ethel Guillaume Smith. Charlotte married Earl Bennett in Peru on June 12, 1949 and he preceded her in death on March 7, 1982. She married Carl Bohm in 1990 and he preceded her in death in 2000.
Charlotte was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Peru, a graduate of Ball State University and a member of Psi Iota Xi Sorority. She was employed as Truancy Officer for the Maconaquah School Corporation retiring in 1986.
Family was very important to Charlotte. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She always made everyone she came into contact with feel extra special. Her gift was her ability to touch each person's life that she met through her selfless and caring personality. Charlotte never met a stranger, was always quick with a smile, loved to hug and offered words of wisdom and general guidance to many throughout her lifetime.
She is survived by her son Blair Bennett and his wife Kim of Powder Springs, Georgia; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Earl Bennett and Carl Bohm; a daughter Amy Goodpaster, sisters Florence Montgomery and Ava Middlekauff and brothers Joseph, Arthur and Edward Smith.
A service celebrating the life of Charlotte Bennett Bohm will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 3, 2015 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 West Main Street, Peru with Steven Bluse officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 5 - 8 p.m., Thursday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home. There will be a Psi Iota Xi Memorial Service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to the Alzheimer's Association.
