Visitation for Justin Rashad Hawkins, 17, of Kankakee, will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Lax Mortuary, Kankakee, and from 10 a.m. Saturday at the Second Baptist Church, until the 11 a.m. funeral services.
Burial will be in Momence cemetery. He died June 23, 2010 at Riverside Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 31, 1992 in Kankakee, the son of Virginia Hawkins and Stanley Staples. He was a senior at Kankakee High School and enjoyed sports. He played football for the Eastside Bulldogs.
Surviving are his mother and father of Kankakee; three brothers, Jonathan Hawkins, Devonte Staples and Joshua Staples, all of Kankakee; three sisters, Jasmine Burks of Robbins, Brandi Staples and Brittani Staples, both of Kankakee; other father, Edmund Harris of Kankakee; paternal grandmother, Eddie Mae Sextion of Kankakee; and other grandparents, B.C. and Mary Harris of Kankakee; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John Sr. and Virginia Hawkins; and paternal grandfather, Charles Staples.
