Visitation for Rodney James Johnathan "Krook" Hawkins, 35, of Hampton, Ga., formerly of Kankakee, will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Lax Mortuary, Kankakee. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Second Baptist Church, Kankakee.
Burial will be in Momence cemetery. He died July 3, 2008.
Mr. Hawkins worked for Gardner-Denver as a welder for six years and participated on the production safety committee. He was born March 19, 1973, in Kankakee, the son of John R. Sr. and Virginia E. Bynum Hawkins. He was a 1991 graduate of St. Anne Community High School.
Surviving are his wife, the former Linda Faye Giles, whom he married in January 1998; one daughter, Erika Estrada Hawkins of Hampton, Ga; one son, Erik Hawkins of Hampton, Ga; two grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, John R. Jr. and Wendy Hawkins of Memphis, Tenn; six sisters and two brothers-in-law, Yolanda and Delbert Davis of Kankakee, Harriett Hawkins of Greensboro, N.C., Mary Hawkins, Jonlynn and Ricky Lobdell, Chantelle Hawkins, and Virginia E. Hawkins II, all of Momence; and several nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Deceased are his parents, one sister, Mandella Marshall; and his grandparents.

Said he moved from Illinois to metro Atlanta to pursue a rap music career. An investigation with the server and manager on duty and the collection of their written notes of what occurred, clearly indicated that the guest ordered Chicken Oscar, a dish that contains crab meat." Investigators have suggested a mix-up in the dinner order.
