Vernon W. Waggoner, 79, Waggoner died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, in Decatur.
Born Aug. 8, 1923, in Era, he was retired from General Dynamics and was
the former owner of Waggoner Waste Oil Company in Wise County. He was a
former member of Granbury Sam's Travel Club, a member of the Wise
County Antique Auto Club and Briar Church of Christ. He served in the
U.S. Army during World War II. He married Alice Haney on May 23, 1992, in Lake Worth.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Katherine Waggoner, six brothers and
two sisters.
He is survived by his wife Alice Waggoner of Decatur; a daughter,
Shirley Timmons and husband David of Houston; two grandchildren, Vernon
Strickland and wife Kathy of Fort Worth and Ronda Baker and husband Derek of Roanoke; two great-grandchildren, Nathan and Grace Strickland; two stepchildren, Lexie Turner and husband Hugh of Georgia and Layton Brown and wife Guineth of Fort Worth; five stepgrandchildren, Duston,Cody, Skip and Thomas Turner and wife Jennifer and Becky Rogers and
husband Chris; two step great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Eathan and four sisters, Joyce Martin of Ada, Okla., Billie Morrow of Longview, Roxie Schoppaul of San Angelo and Reba Beall of Boyd. He was the son of John Oscar Waggoner and Lillie Pearl McKinney Waggoner .
