Mrs. Elizabeth M. Beard, 86, formerly of Union Bridge, died Sunday, June 28, 2015 at Golden Living Nursing Center, Westminster, after a brief illness. Born January 7, 1929 in Thurmont, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Agnes Krietz Knott. She was the wife of Milton Wesley Beard who died in 2006. Mrs. Beard was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Taneytown. She enjoyed working on a variety of puzzles and spending time with her family and friends. Surviving are a daughter, Shirley Pittinger and husband Larry of Union Bridge; 2 grandsons, David W. Pittinger of Taneytown and Michael A. Pittinger and wife Sue of Walkersville and a sister, Geraldine Leather of Hagerstown. She was predeceased by 3 brothers, Allen, Guy and Earl Knott. A private graveside service will be held at Rocky Hill Cemetery, near Woodsboro, with Msgr. Martin Feild, her pastor, officiating.
