Roger was known and loved by many; he was an avid outdoorsman, and a member of the Columbiana County Fish and Game Sportsman Club. He placed second in the State of Ohio Archery Championship in 1981 and had achieved a black belt in Karate. He also took pride in teaching his son, grandsons, and nephews to hunt and fish; passing on his love of the outdoors to them. Roger also served his country proudly during the Vietnam War, and was known by all to be a patriot, and having a deep love for his country. Roger loved being a part of his children's and grandchildren's lives, and he was a member of the United Brethren in Christ Church.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Alice Lawson, and his father, Ray Lawson. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 39 years, Anita Galloway Lawson, his children including his daughter, Mary Durk, and her husband, Andrew, his son, Mike Lawson, and his wife, Brenda, his daughter, Katie Davis, and her husband, Dusty, and his daughter, Crystal Lawson. He also leaves to cherish his memory his beloved grandchildren, Roger and Hayden Lawson, Andrew and Brooke Durk, Van and Hanna Davis, and Kyler, Andrea, and Allyson Woodward. He will be deeply missed by his sister, Darlene Rayl, as well as nine nieces and nephews. Roger also leaves behind a dear friend, whom he considered to be a brother, Ronald Keener, who was there for him and Anita through thick and thin over the years.
