James W. Hibbs, 74, of Momence, died Monday July 19, 2010 at Momence Meadows Nursing Center. There will be no visitation. Cremation rites were accorded. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Momence Cemetery. The Rev. Herbert Thompson will officiate. Memorials may be made to his grandson's education. Cotter Funeral Home, Momence, is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hibbs was a pharmacist. He was born June 20, 1936 in Momence, the son of Woodrow and Esther S. Jensen Hibbs. His wife, the former Mary Lea Gagnon, whom he married July 30, 1966 in Amboy, preceded him in death Oct 6, 1984. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Manteno and the NRA. He enjoyed fishing and watching the Chicago Cubs.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Kelly Henson of Momence; one grandson, Austin Henson of Momence; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Marlene and Al Turrell and Joyce Hibbs, all of Momence; and one brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Janet Hibbs of Wichita, Kan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Sharon Coehn.
