Fritz Harold Brooks, 89, died Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at the San Antonio Veterans Hospital.

Fritz was born January 15, 1926, at home in Swisher County, Texas to Fritz and Geneva Brooks.

Fritz served in the Marines and was wounded during World War II where he received the Purple Heart commendation for his dedication and bravery. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Marines never left him, as friends and family will attest.

After the Marines, Fritz worked at Kelly Air Force Base for 35 five years before retiring to spend quality time with his family and friends hunting, fishing and enjoying life.

Fritz is survived by his brother, Don Brooks, daughter, Susan Cruz, family member Dawn Terrazas, grandchildren, Lloyd Jacobs, Marlana Janysek, Larry Cheever Jr., Jennifer Cheever and Daniel Cheever. He also leaves behind five great grandchildren Harley Jacobs, Karson Moeller, Nathaniel Cheever, Madeline Cheever and Brielan Janysek.

Fritz was preceded in death by his parents, Fritz and Geneva, his brother Ralph, his daughter Patricia and his wives Dora and Joyce.
