Bernice Louise Nichols, 89, of Dayton, died Sunday, June 21, 2015, at Life Care Center of Rhea County.

She was a lifelong resident of Rhea County and a member of Cove Chapel Church of God. She liked being outdoors, walking and crossword puzzles. She raised several children and loved her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Creed and Katie Dunn; husband, James Nichols; brother, Edward Dunn; daughters, Judy Qualls, Donna Stacks and Rebecca Nichols; son, Gary Nichols; granddaughter, Misty Stacks; and great-grandson, Garrett Potter.

Survivors include children, Jimbo Nichols, Calvin “Gene” (Margaret) Nichols, Brenda (Jerry) Morgan, Sandra Morgan, Larry (Glenda) Nichols, Kathy Freeman, Karen (Stanley) Higdon, Charlie (Fayrene) Qualls and Lisa (Hugh) Bustos all of Dayton; sisters, Inez Agee and Caroline Iles; brothers, Earl Dunn and Gene Dunn; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Cove Chapel Church of God in Dayton, with Rev. William “Tim” Smith officiating. Burial will be at Cove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 23, 2015, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home. The body will lie in state from 9 to 11 a.m on Wednesday at the church
