Lon is survived by his brother Andrew Dewey Burnett of Advance, NC, daughters Marylin McAdams (husband Wayne) of Wallburg, NC, Glenda Hall (husband Larry) of Bristol, VA, sons Ken Burnette (wife Virginia) of Bermuda Run, NC, Dillard (wife Debbie) of King, NC. Lon was the proud grandfather of 6 – Melissa Kelly, Elizabeth Nolan (Chad), Shelly Snead (Trey), Justin McAdams (Shannon), Lyle Burnette, Lauren Mackey (Jeremy). Lon was the great grandfather of 9 – Mary Grace Kelly, Katy and Matthew Nolan, Harrison and Caroline Snead, Vaeda and Jessa McAdams and Cooper and Callie Burnette. Lon has many great nieces, nieces, great nephews, nephews, and cousins throughout the country.
Before joining the workforce, Lon served his country as a member of the United States Army where he was stationed in the Philippines and other countries abroad. After leaving the service Lon began work with Western Electric (AT&T) where he worked for over 35 years. Lon loved fishing and being with members of his family and his work family.
A service celebrating the life of Lon will be conducted at Vogler's Funeral Home, Reynolda Road, Winston-Salem, NC. Visitation with the family will begin at 11:00 A.M. followed by the service at 12:00 noon. Interment will immediately follow the services at Forsyth Memorial Park.
