8. Adam Riedel
Birth: Herzog, Russia

I had in my file said the father of Michael Riedel (1819-1899) was John Riedel 1794-after 1843. I received information from Jerry Braun and Waldemar Riedel on Facebook. They corrected it to Joseph Riedel born 1792.

Born in Herzog, Russia

Die Herzoger lists his parents as John Riedel and Magdalena Kuhn. However, the 1857 census lists him in the household of Josef Riedel (b. 1792) and Barbara Bach (b. 1810). Barbara was actually Josef's third wife. Michael was born to Josef's first wife, who died around 1828 and whose name is unknown.

Immigrated to US on SS Mosel, arriving New York, NY, on July 29, 1876.

The ship passenger list includes their sons Andreas, age 18 and Peter, age 19. Andreas, appears in the 1857 Herzog census but Peter does not, so their ages were probably swapped and Peter was born just after the 1857 census. Peter's fate is unknown.
