Three sisters and two brothers also preceded her in death, Orpha (Edward) Evans, Selma (Walter) Harmon, Arvada (Richard) Fowler, Cletus Shutt and Harold (Gertrude) Shutt.
Also preceded in death were nephews, Sylvester Harmon, Wilson Harmon, Prince Harmon, John Harmon, John Hammel and Bruce Ando.
She is survived by her sister, Flossie (Glenn) Lebold of Bolivar, and five nieces, Judy (John) Hammel, Ann (Elden) Adams, Linda (Robert) Locker Jr., Bonnie (Mark) Westcott and Arvada Jean (Robert) Everhart.
She graduated from Strasburg High School and was the last surviving member of the class of 1928. Most of her life she was a member of St.John United Church of Christ in Strasburg where she served as an Elder, Secretary of the Consistory, member of the Board of Christian Education, member of two pastoral search committees, Superintendent and teacher of its Junior Department, and organized and directed the 27-member white robed Junior Choir which was her pride and joy.
Her current membership was with St. John United Church of Christ in Bolivar where she and her husband hosted for many years the early morning summer church at their home on the hill at Bolivar. Lula was a member of the Dover Historical Society, Tuscarawas County and Ohio Historical Societies, The Stark County Wilderness Center, the Sugarcreek Valley Chapter of the Archaeological Society of Ohio and the Tuscarawas County Farm Bureau. She was also a former member of the Bolivar Women's Study Club. Lula enjoyed traveling with her husband to all 50 states of the Union, in Canada from coast to coast, two trips to Europe and extensively traveled in Mexico during the winter months; always keeping in the foreground their great interest in archeology and American Indians. They loved hunting Indian artifacts and consequently had a large Indian collection which they donated to the Warther Museum at Dover, Ohio. Other hobbies include playing cards with friends, crafts and preserving and freezing food from the their garden. But most enduring were the many delightful memories made by spending time with her beloved nieces and nephews. She also has great-, great-great-nieces and nephews and great-greatgreat-nieces.
Her funeral service is Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, at 11 a.m. in the Lebold Funeral Home at Bolivar, Ohio, where there will be calling hours on Friday from 5 to 7.
Officiating is Dr. Donald N. Nichols and burial will be in Ft. Laurens Cemetery, Bolivar, Ohio. In lieu of flowers donations are requested to be made to St. John United Church of Christ, P.O. Box 156, Bolivar, OH 44612.
