Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 25, 2015, at Abilene Funeral Home Chapel of Hope, 3349 N. 12th Street with Pastor Ernie McLean and wife Mandy officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Abilene Funeral Home.
Mr. Burks was born June 27, 1967, in Abilene, Texas to James Roy and Cayetana L. Burks.
He lived here most of his life and was baptized through the Catholic Church.
Jesse was a self employed mechanic and enjoyed tinkering with cars.
He also worked in landscaping for Miranda's Landscaping Co.
Jesse loved riding his motorcycle, playing golf, gambling, fishing and taking vacations with his wife and kids.
Left to cherish his memories include his loving wife of 21 plus years, Rebekah; three sons, Mark Wayne Lomax (Kaylie), Nicholas Burks and Brandon Lee Burks, all of Abilene; one daughter, Pamela Jean Heatherly (Jacob) of Abilene; his mother, Cayetana Burks of Abilene; two brothers, James Roy, Jr. Burks (Jeanne) of Crowley John Riley Burks (Grace) of Abilene; one sister, Linda Mae Oretga (Armando) of Abilene; six grandchildren and numerous nieces , nephews, cousins and friends.
Jesse was preceded in death by his father James Roy Burks, a brother in law and several aunts and uncles.
The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
