Monday, July 3, 2006, surrounded by his family and friends, Edward Gene Yarbrough, 68, of Muskogee was called from his earthly home to his eternal home. He joined his Savior, his father, Elgie Yarbrough and his brother Glenn Yarbrough.

Gene was born in Holdenville, Oklahoma, December 16, 1937 to Elgie E. & Opal Flora (Scroggins) Yarbrough. As a small boy, he moved with his family to Napa Valley, California where he graduated from high school in 1955. The following February, Gene married his high school sweetheart, JoAnn Arnold. They moved to Muskogee in 1958 and remained to raise their family. Gene was an excellent carpenter and belonged to the local Carpenters Union for over 35 years, holding office many times. He was an avid OU fan, and enjoyed watching the games with his family and friends. Gene was a member of Grandview Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, of 50 years, JoAnn Yarbrough; his mother, Opal Yarbrough; son, Larry Yarbrough & wife Charla; daughters, Debra Rooks and Linda Yarbrough; grandkids: Deanna Croman & husband Patrick; Lanny Yarbrough; Crystal Salgado and Kelly Jean Hacker; five great grandkids; brother, Jerry Lynn Yarbrough & wife Peggy and special friends, Robert Felts and family, Susan Stewart, Lee Ann Finch and Larry Moore.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Gene's life at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 6, 2006 at the Grandview Baptist Church officiated by Reverend Cordell Coppin. Interment will follow in Brushy Mountain Cemetery with Robert Felts, Larry Moore, Larry Hendrix, Tony Fowler, Miles Beverage and Elmer Richardson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Elmer Perry, Ted Phernetan, Stan Matthews and Doyle Boling.

The family has entrusted Bradley Family Funeral Service of Muskogee with the arrangements.
