Henry's son, John T. Holsman, graduated from Cornell University in 1929 along with his twin brother, William, in a notable class of the School of Architecture, which produced many historically prominent architects of the 20th century.

When John and William graduated from Cornell they joined their father's firm in Chicago. This firm pioneered in reinforced masonry construction with notable projects such as promontory apartments and Sherman Garden apartments.

In the late 1940's, John and Henry were brought a project by their client Herbert Greenwald of Metropolitan structures. The project was 860 Lakeshore Drive in Chicago. They sought out the radical design of a new upcoming aArchitect, Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe, to achieve Mies's dream of an all-glass building.

The project was carried out by an association of Mies Vander Rohe, Pace associates and Holsman Holsman Klecamp and Taylor. 860 Lakeshore Drive is historically recognized as the forerunner of the modern skyscraper and was the first of the all-glass skin projects which later typified much of Van Der Rohe's work.

John was honored in 1976 along with Mies Van Der Rohe and Pace associates by the American Institute of Architects "25 Year Award" for "projects of historical importance which have endured the test of time."

In 1950 John also received a Multifamily "Award of Excellence" from the American Institute of Architects for Sherman Garden Apartments in Evanston, Illinois.

Later in his career John's work focused on country clubs and resort hotel work around the midwest. Projects include Lake Lawn Lodge in Delavan, Wis., Aquamarine Lodge in Avon Lake, Ohio and Nordic Hills and Carson Inn in Itasca, Ill.
