Bill served in the South Pacific for the U.S. Navy from March 1944 until June, 1946.
He attended Fresno City College, Fresno State College, Arizona State Teachers College and Texas Christian University. He worked for the Corps of Army Engineers at Pine Flat Dam and laid out the road that is on the north side of the lake. He was a civil engineer for Cal Trans for 25 years. He then moved into Industrial Relations as a Senior Safety Engineer. In his private life he was also a grape farmer.
Bill was a member of Las Palmas-Ponderosa Masonic Lodge No. 366 and was its Master in 1969.
