MANILLA - Funeral rites for Gene Gordon Sievertsen, 23, of Defiance, formerly of Manilla, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Peter's Catholic Church at Defiance, with burial there in the parish cemetery. Arrangements are in charge of the Ohde Funeral Home, Manilla, where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Thursday.

Mr. Sievertsen was killed in a one-car accident south of Denison Tuesday night, Nov. 14, 1967 which also claimed the life of Francis E. Meseck, 22, of Schleswig.

A son of Gordon and Cecil Walters Sievertsen, he was born at Manilla May 18, 1944. He graduated from Ar-We-Va High School in 1962. On Dec. 28, 1964, he was married to Maxine Von Tersch at Defiance and they lived at Denison, where he was employed by Farmbest. His wife died in an auto accident on Dec. 9, 1965, and since then, Mr. Sievertsen had lived with his parents near Defiance.

Surviving besides his parents are a brother, Larry, of Sac City; his grandfather, Robert Saunders of Manilla; and his father-in-law, Frank Von Tersch, Defiance. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents and maternal grandmother. He was engaged to be married to Donna Terrill of Harlan.
