"(Dearborn County, Ind.) – It has been a somber few days at Dearborn County Hospital with news that one of the facility’s most-beloved doctors has died.

Dr. Phillip M. Jacobs died on Wednesday, June 24 in a farming accident involving a tractor at a farm he owned in Pendleton County, Kentucky. The Edgewood resident was 62-years-old.

Jacobs had joined DCH in 1990 as an anesthesiologist. He rose to the hospital’s director of anesthesiology, building many relationships along the way, says friend Dr. Mike McAndrews, DCH’s Chief of Surgery.

“He was one of the pillars of the hospital,” McAndrews said Friday. “His whole life was dedicated to his hospital, farming, and his family.”

McAndrews says his friend and colleague impacted the lives of hospital employees and patients alike. Some called him “Jake”.

Jacobs leaves behind his wife, Joyce.

Dearborn County Hospital’s operating rooms have canceled all elective surgeries on Monday, June 29 so that staff can attend Jacobs’ funeral at 11:00 a.m. A public visitation will take place on Sunday, June 28 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Middendorf Funeral Home, 3312 Madison Pike, in Fort Wright, Kentucky."
