An obituary that ran in the Associated Press says she was prominent in Washington and abroad and died on her Maryland estate near Silver Spring. Even more interesting, she and her husband (a British attorney) got permission from Queen Victoria to hyphenate their names so her name would be preserved, according to an 1899 Chicago Tribune story.
