He was killed in action, while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in the Parwan Province, Afghanistan. Martin was assigned to the 43rd Engineer Company, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas. Wyatt joined the United States Army because he wanted to give back. Wyatt loved the outdoors.
After his time in the Army, Wyatt planned to go to Michigan State University, study environmental science, and become a fish and game officer.
Wyatt graduated from Skyline High School in Mesa, Arizona.
Wyatt is survived by his parents Brian and Julie (Grace) Martin; sisters Katie and Beth; grand parents Joe and Joan Martin; Uncles: Scott Grace, Rob Grace, David Martin, Jeff Martin, Roger Martin, Jeff Dornbos and Randy Jewell, Aunts: Katie (Grace) Dornbos, Susan (Grace) Fedele and Cindy (Grace) Jewell, Carolyn Grace, Jeanette Grace, Anne Martin; along with his several adoring and co-mischievous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Charles Robert and Wanda Grace.
Graveside memorial services were Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte. To honor this young man and his service to our country, the community was encouraged to line the streets of Charlotte from Pray Funeral Home, to the entrance of Maple Hill Cemetery.
Participants were asked to line the streets for the procession that was led by the Charlotte Police Department.
Wyatt's family has requested that in lieu of flowers; please make contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project.
