She was 36. She is the daughter of George Louis Rousset and Maria Carolina Vargas Rousset and the wife of Harley.

Melissa was born January 23, 1979 in Brownsville to George Louis Rousset and Carolina Vargas. She married Harley Don Lewis of Amarillo on September 18, 2004. Melissa worked for Amarillo Children’s Clinic for sixteen years. She was attending West Texas A&M University in Amarillo, majoring in Wildlife Biology with a minor in Environmental Science. She was an honor student and was scheduled to graduate this fall 2015. Her goal was to be a Texas Wildlife Park Ranger. Melissa’s true passion was the outdoors, including camping, wildlife photography and she had a special connection with animals. She enjoyed photographing birds and one of her photographs of a Black-bellied Whistling Duck, an endangered species, was featured in the Texas Wildlife Records in June 2013. She was a wonderful person , and was beautiful inside and out. She was sweet, kind and thoughtful. Melissa was blessed with a beautiful smile that just drew you in and made you feel loved. She was deeply loved and will be missed by all of us.

Melissa was preceded in death by her husband , Harley Don Lewis; maternal grandfather, Raul Vargas and paternal grandmother, Alice Rousset Munoz .

Melissa is survived by her loving parents, George Louis and Carolina Rousset of Amarillo; a sister, Cristina Rousset of Denver, Co.; a niece, Nola Scarlet Lake and a maternal grandmother, Francisca Vargas.
