Mrs. Jackie Pyles Prince-Lashley, age 81, passed away early Friday morning, June 26, 2015, in Thomasville, Georgia. Services for Mrs. Lashley will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 28, 2015, at Eastside Baptist Church in Cairo, Georgia. The Reverends Wayne McDonald, Steve Wooten and Carl Harrell will officiate. Donnie Prince, Heyward Hollingsworth, Vernon Cook, Dakota Nasworthy, Jimmy Ausburn, Jeffrey Ouzts, Patrick Ouzts, and Eric Inman will serve as pallbearers. Members of the Community II Sunday School class of Eastside Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers, as well as, Michael Tedder, Gene Wade and Tommy Lackey. The service will conclude at the church. Mrs. Lashley will be interred in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m., Saturday evening, at Eastside Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.

Jackie Jeanette Pyles was born April 2, 1934 in Cairo, Georgia, to Culven Pyles and Mary Luvenia Ouzts Pyles. Jackie was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. She served over the years on various committees. She has taught children’s Sunday school, was a member of the Community II Sunday School Class, and a member of the Choir. Jackie was a Hospice volunteer and volunteered at the Grady County Help Agency. She also gave of her time volunteering at the Senior Center. A past member of the Thomasville Sunrise Kiwanis Club, she was the Outstanding Kiwanian of 1994. A graduate of Cairo High School, Jackie was a member of the first graduating class of nurses from Thomas Tech, in 1964. Jackie received an Associate Degree in Nursing in Jacksonville, Florida and, at age 50, she graduated with a B.S. in nursing from Valdosta State University. She was the Director of Nursing at Grady General Hospital for five years and taught Certified Nursing Assistants at Southwest Georgia Technical School. Jackie retired from Archbold Medical Center; where she was known for her crisp white uniforms and caps. Her nursing cap and shoes are on display in the John D. Archbold Memorial Hospital Lobby Archives. Outside of her work, Jackie loved flowers and animals. In 2002, she married Eugene (Gene) Lashley. Jackie was a loving wife and mother. She will be sorely missed by the family she loved so much.

Jackie Pyles Prince-Lashley is survived by her husband, Gene Lashley of Cairo; children, Ryan Prince and wife, Karen of Jacksonville, Florida, Sharon Layne Prince of Cairo, Douglas Arthur Prince of Atlanta, and Rod Prince of Cairo; brother, Tommy Pyles and wife, Gloria of Cairo; grandchildren, Rhonda Weaver of Jacksonville, Eric Inman and wife, Danielle of Sevierville, Tennessee, Kathryn Prince and Kelly Prince of Cairo; great grandchildren, Dakota Nasworthy, Marla Weaver, Riley Weaver, Caroline Gainous, Victoria Inman, Jessica Inman, and Justin (J.J.) Inman, Jr.; and step-son, Gene F. Lashley. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Jerry and William Pyles.
