Obtained wealth as a Planter, arriving in the Cherokee Nation in 1808. He received $13,607.75 for his property and spoliation, one of the largest claims awarded to any Indian countryman in Georgia, in 1819.. One of only five families allowed to remain in Georgia on his "Reservation" of 640 acres, when the Cherokee people were removed in 1838, to the west, Cherokee Nation (before Oklahoma statehood).
Daniel Davis died testate on June 9, 1868 in Lumpkin County, Georgia at the age of 83 years and four months. His last will and testament was signed April 23 and filed August 5, 1868 with the Inferior Court for probate.
