Daniel Davis married Rachel Martin November 1, 1808 by Littleton Meeks. Daniel Davis was born February 8, 1785 in South Carolina.

Obtained wealth as a Planter, arriving in the Cherokee Nation in 1808. He received $13,607.75 for his property and spoliation, one of the largest claims awarded to any Indian countryman in Georgia, in 1819.. One of only five families allowed to remain in Georgia on his "Reservation" of 640 acres, when the Cherokee people were removed in 1838, to the west, Cherokee Nation (before Oklahoma statehood).

Daniel Davis died testate on June 9, 1868 in Lumpkin County, Georgia at the age of 83 years and four months. His last will and testament was signed April 23 and filed August 5, 1868 with the Inferior Court for probate.

1838 Sept 5 Lumpkin County Land Deeds, Book E, p 315: Georgia Lumpkin County--This Indenture made and entered into this the thirty first day of December in the year of our Lord One Thousand & Eight Hundred and thirty six between Benjamin F. Patton of the County of Habersham of the one part & Daniel Davis of Lumpkin County...sum of Two hundred and Twenty-five dollars...land situate lying and being in the Twelvth district (12th) first Section (1st) of formally Cherokee but now Lumpkin Cty and distinguished in the plan of the Same as lot Number Three hundred and one (301)... (sig) Benjamin F. Patton (seal)
This day and date above. Sign & sealed in presence of: (sig) John C. Watts, L. D. Davis.
In person came before me John C. Watts who swears that he saw B. F. Patton Sign Seal & write unto Deed for the purpose therein expressed & same L. D. Davis. Sign the same as a witness with himself. (sig) John C. Watts
